Things To Do in White Plains This Weekend

Summer is in full swing, the weather is warming up, and downtown White Plains is getting ready to host one of the most exciting, high-energy community events of the year. Whether you are a die-hard sports fan, a foodie looking for open-air dining, or a family searching for a fun afternoon out, this weekend's lineup has something for everyone.

Here is your official guide to what’s happening in the City of White Plains this weekend!

🌟 THE WEEKEND HIGHLIGHT: WP Soccer Fest Block Party

The world’s biggest sporting event is coming to our downtown streets! Get ready to paint Mamaroneck Avenue in your favorite team's colors for the WP Soccer Fest Block Partyβ€”an epic, all-day community celebration and official FIFA World Cup 2026β„’ Watch Party.

The city is shutting down the street to set up a massive Jumbo Screen, turning the heart of downtown into the ultimate outdoor living room.

  • When: Saturday, July 11 | 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • Where: FanFest on Mamaroneck Avenue (between E. Post Road and Maple Avenue)

  • Admission: FREE (All ages welcome!)

What to Expect at the Fest:

  • The Big Matches: Catch two massive FIFA World Cup Quarterfinal matches broadcast live with stadium-level sound. The first match kicks off at 5:00 PM, followed by the nightcap Quarterfinal at 9:00 PM.

  • The "Beer Garden" Dining Experience: Leave the cooking to us! Participating Mamaroneck Avenue restaurants will be serving up delicious game-day meals directly to communal picnic tables set up right on the street.

  • Grab a Seat (or BYOC!): There will be hundreds of seats set up in front of the jumbo screen, but they are first-come, first-served. We highly encourage you to BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) to secure your favorite turf!

  • All-Afternoon Family Activities: Our partners at the Westchester Soccer Club will be keeping the energy high between matches with interactive games, including Soccer Darts, pop-up skill demos, a "Guess Your Kick Speed" radar challenge, and neighborhood cornhole competitions.

  • Kick It Forward: While you're packing your lawn chairs, grab an old pair of cleats or sneakers! The event will be hosting an on-site Shoe Drive, accepting gently used athletic footwear donations to help give back to the sports community.

Transit Tip: Skip the parking hunt! A free shuttle service will be running continuously to and from the White Plains Metro-North Station throughout the event.

Other Weekend Staples to Check Out:

If you want to make a full day of it before the 4:00 PM kickoff, don't forget our classic White Plains weekend rituals:

1. The White Plains Farmers Market

  • When: Saturday | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Where: Court Street (between Main St. and Martine Ave.)

Get your morning started right. Stroll down Court Street to pick up hyper-local organic produce, artisanal baked goods, fresh-cut summer flowers, and a morning iced coffee before the downtown festivities begin.

2. Hit the Trails at Cranberry Lake Preserve

  • When: Open daily, sunrise to sunset

  • Where: Old Orchard Street

Need to burn off some pre-game nervous energy? Take a peaceful morning hike through our 190-acre nature preserve. The shaded quarry trails and the lily-pad-filled lake offer the perfect, quiet counterbalance to a loud, roaring evening of tournament soccer.

Know Before You Go:

  • Road Closures: Please note that Mamaroneck Avenue (between E. Post Rd and Maple Ave) will be closed to vehicular traffic starting early Saturday morning for stage and screen staging. Use local municipal garages (such as the Chester-Maple or Lyon Place garages) if you are driving in.

  • Weather: The event is open-air; remember to pack your sunscreen for the 5:00 PM match, and a light sweatshirt for the 9:00 PM match!
